So since 60 seconds is such a short time,
Instead of a fast intro,
I thought I’d share, an AltCity rhyme.
We have a story, no doubt, that many startups here share.
A story of excitement! And success! And deceit… and despair.
Because even though we proudly proclaim from deep in our core:
Lebanon is an excellent place to start a business!
We all also know, that in the last Doing Business Report, Lebanon came in at place … 104.
And that, my friends, is why social entrepreneurship is our game …
Because the problems with electricity, water, pollution, internet, racism, cell phones, politics, education, environment, health care, … for a start …
… those problems just drive us insane.
And we can do so much more, when we’re all working together, driving the same course.
Hence our belief, in radical collaboration, Creative Commons, and of course, open source.
And that is why, we love sitting here with you all today, listening to all these fine talks.
Because, at its core, GEW Lebanon just ROCKS.
So if you’re still troubled, don’t cry in Self-Pity!
